Ancient Secrets of Scriptural Essential Oils

April 17th, 2012

“Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food. Their leaves will not wither, and their fruit …will be for food, and their leaves shall be for Medicine.”  – Ezekiel 47:12

The power and mystique of fragrance have captured the imagination of both men and women for centuries. Spices and oils became an integral part of the Hebraic culture in Biblical times. Essential Oils… the missing link to modern medicine…were used to anoint kings, leaders, and the Christ Child. Frankincense and Myrrh (the gifts of the Christ Child) are now being documented by European doctors as the most powerful “natural health insurance” in modern society. These healing plant oils are the life blood of the plant! Now you too can access the power of essential oils and learn the secrets of the ancient scriptures.

Twelve Oils of Ancient Scripture

The Twelve Oils of Ancient Scripture Collection

Aloes/Sandalwood

Many botanists believe that aloes were derived from sandalwood, one of the oldest sources of incense known to man.

  • Modern Uses – Help for cystitis and urinary tract infections and is particularly good for skin care especially for acne, dry, and cracked skin. Also beneficial toward menstrual problems, sleep, respiratory infections, and nervous tension. In traditional Indian medicine it is valued for its anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and anti-infectious properties.
  • For the Mind and Spirit – This oil can be used for clarifying and stilling the mind, creating space for inner unity of body, mind, and spirit. It is known for its tranquil and calming effects on troublesome souls.

Cassia

One of the oldest known spices, cassia was an ingredient in the holy anointing oil and the incense that was burned daily in the temple.

  • Modern Uses – Antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal, and an immune system builder

Cedarwood

Cedar was an integral part of two Biblical purification rituals- one for lepers and another for those who were impure from touching a dead body.

  • Modern Uses – Used as an insect repellent, also for hair loss, acne, dandruff, eczema, fungal infections, and other skin disorders. Also helps improve symptoms of circulation and joint mobility failure, and is a great decongestant for the respiratory system.
  • For the Mind and Spirit – It can enhance deep sleep and emotional releases. It can clear the mind and brain. It helps relieve nervous tension and stress-related conditions.

Cypress

The cypress tree is renowned for its durability. Some Bible scholars believe cypress may be the “gopher wood” used to build Noah’s Ark.

  • Modern Uses – Improves circulation and supports the nerves and intestines. Anti-infectious, antibacterial, antimicrobial, and strengthens blood capillaries. Also acts as an insect repellent.
  • For the Mind and Spirit – Helps to convey a feeling of cohesion and stability. Useful in relieving anger, irritability, and stress related conditions. Spiritually is helps in times of inner turmoil and transition.

Frankincense

Because frankincense symbolizes divinity, it was one of the three gifts given to the Christ child.

  • Modern Uses – Expectorant, antitumoral, immunostimulant, and antidepressant
  • For the Mind and Spirit – Has the ability to relax and revitalize at the same time. Excellent treatment for nervous tension and nervous exhaustion. Its fragrance increases spiritual awareness and promotes meditation.

Galbanum

Ancient incenses included spices or perfumes with lovely fragrances, but were not complete without the earthy odor of galbanum.

  • Modern Uses – Helpful for abscesses, acne, asthma, chronic coughs, cramps, indigestion, muscular aches and pains, scar tissue, wrinkles, and wounds.
  • For the Mind and Spirit – Helpful for emotional balancing and nervous tension, Galbanum is called a sacrificial fragrance that allows for the shedding of old ideas and attitudes.

Hyssop

Branches from the hyssop plant were used during the exodus from Egypt to dab Hebrew doorsteps with lamb’s blood as protection from the plague of death.

  • Modern Uses – Has been used to relieve anxiety, arthritis, asthma, respiratory infections, parasites, sore throats, and for cuts and wounds. It can strengthen the lungs and help prevent the recurrence of colds and flu, and ward off infection.
  • For the Mind and Spirit – Hyssop is distinctly invigorating for the mind. It is used for poor concentration, short-term mental fatigue, and chronic nervous conditions. Traditionally, it was considered an oil of protection of one’s space from evil spirits.

Myrrh

It is fitting that myrrh symbolizes suffering, since it is produced by slicing the bark of a myrrh tree, so that the precious resin oozes out and hardens into drops called “tears”.

  • Modern Uses – It is anti-infectious, antiviral, antiparasitic, hormone-like, anit-inflammatory, soothes skin conditions, anti-hyperthyroid, and supports the immune system.
  • For the Mind and Spirit – Used for emotional releasing, myrrh affects the nervous system in a gentle, calming way. It can be used to instill deep tranquility, inner stillness, and peace.

Myrtle

To the ancient Jews, myrtle was symbolic of peace and justice.

  • Modern Uses – Very mild oil so it is good for children’s coughs and chest complaints. It is soothing to the respiratory system and acts as a decongestant. Good for the sinuses, and symptoms of the cold and flu.
  • For the Mind and Spirit – Helps control and release anger and frustration.

Onycha

Like frankincense and myrrh, onycha is a resin and was used in various religious ceremonies.

  • Modern Uses – Can be inhaled for sinusitis, bronchitis, colds, coughs, and sore throats. Its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties are useful for dermatitis and skin wounds.
  • For the Mind and Spirit – Has been known to relieve stress when used in massage oil.

Rose of Sharon/Cistus

In ancient times, the gum that exudes from this plant was collected from the hair of goats that had browsed among the bushes.

  • Modern Uses – Has been studied for its effects on the regeneration of cells. Helpful toward respiratory conditions such as bronchitis, lung infections, coughs, and rhinitis.
  • For the Mind and Spirit – Has been found to be calming to the nerves and elevating for the emotions.

Spikenard

Hebrews & Romans used spikenard in the burial of their dead.

  • Modern Uses – Antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, deodorant, relaxing, and as a skin tonic. It is helpful for rapid and irregular heartbeat. Aids in digestive acts so therefore helps nausea, constipation, and intestinal colic.

Lavender, the Swiss Army Knife of Essential Oils

February 2nd, 2012

“If you are struggling with personal health challenges that seem overwhelming, essential oils are just what you need. Young Living Essential Oils are the purest essential oils I have found worldwide.” ~ Teri Williams, International Cover Model, Author, and Health Lecturer

swiss army knife

Lavender Oil is often referred to as the “Swiss Army Knife” of essential oils, because there are a multitude of uses for it, including cuts, bruises, burns, headaches, and insomnia. I recommend that you keep more than one bottle of lavender in your house.

The following “fact sheet” is from the Essential Oils Desk Reference Guide, published by Essential Science Publishing:

LAVENDER (Lavandula angustifolia)

ACTION: Antiseptic, analgesic, antitumoral, anticonvulsant, sedative, anti-inflammatory. Lavender is beneficial for cleansing cuts and wounds and is ideal for skin care, since it prevents the build up of excess sebum, a skin oil that bacteria feed on. Lavender has also been clinically evaluated for its relaxing effects.

TRADITIONAL USES: The French scientist René Gatefossé was the first to discover lavender’s ability to promote tissue regeneration and speed wound healing when he severely burned his arm in a laboratory accident. Today, lavender is one of the few essential oils to still be listed in the British Pharmacopoeia.

INDICATIONS: Burns (cell renewal), sunburns (including lips), dandruff, hair loss, allergies, convulsions, herpes, headaches, indigestion, insomnia, high blood pressure, menopausal conditions, nausea, phlebitis, tumors, premenstrual conditions, scarring (minimizes), skin conditions (acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, and rashes) and stretch marks. It may be used to cleanse cuts, bruises, and skin irritations.

OTHER USES: Lavender is a universal oil with many different applications. It may help arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, convulsions, depression, earaches, heart palpitations, high blood pressure, hives (urticaria), insect bites, laryngitis, nervous tension, respiratory infections, rheumatism, and throat infections.

“My son had problems for years being able to fall asleep. He would lay there for hours it seemed. He had gotten into the habit of taking something over the counter before bedtime each night. He is 21 yrs old with a mind of his own, and I was really worried. One day, I asked him if I could put Lavender on the bottom of his feet at bedtime and he agreed. He slept like a baby and now he uses it every night. He no longer takes anything else!” ~ Regina Danley

Just a few of the many ways to use your Therapeutic Grade Lavender oil:

  • Rub Lavender oil on the feet for a calming effect on the body.
  • Rub a drop of Lavender oil on your palms and smooth on your pillow to help you sleep.
  • Put a drop of Lavender oil on a bee sting or insect bite to stop itching and reduce swelling.
  • Put 2-3 drops of Lavender oil on a minor burn to decrease pain.
  • Drop Lavender oil on a cut to stop the bleeding.

  • To alleviate the symptoms of motion sickness, place a drop of Lavender oil on the end of the tongue or around the naval or behind the ears.
  • To stop a nosebleed, put a drop of Lavender oil on a tissue and wrap it around a small chip of ice. Push the tissue covered ice chip up under the middle of the top lip to the base of the nose and hold as long as comfortable or until the bleeding stops (do not freeze the lip or gum).
  • Rub a drop of Lavender oil over the bridge of the nose to unblock tear ducts.
  • Rub Lavender oil on dry or chapped skin.
  • Rub a drop of Lavender oil on chapped or sunburned lips.

  • Place a drop of Lavender oil in your water fountain to scent the air, kill bacteria and prolong the time between cleanings.
  • Place a few drops of Lavender oil on a wet cloth and throw into the dryer, which will deodorize and freshen your laundry.
  • Put a drop of Lavender oil on a cold sore.
  • Diffuse Lavender oil to alleviate the symptoms of allergies.
  • Spritz several drops of Lavender oil mixed with distilled water on a sunburn to decrease pain.
  • Drop Lavender oil on a cut to clean the wound and kill bacteria.
  • Apply 2-3 drops of Lavender oil to a rash to stop the itching and heal the skin.

The Case for Thieves vs. Windex™

By Gloria Miller

Now that the holiday season is approaching, most of us are starting to focus on the tradition of getting our homes “sparkling clean.” But what kind of products to use — or NOT to use, and why? I’d like to make the case for Thieves Household Cleaner (which, I admit, has an odd-sounding name), by contrasting it with a popular over-the-counter cleaner (with a most delightful-sounding name): Crystal Rain Windex™. (Aaahh. . . Lovely purple color, and the name makes us want to run barefoot through the dewdrops, right? Well, read on. . .)

The Toxicity of Windex

Nobody would dream of spraying food with Windex, but they do spray various surfaces in their home with it — including sinks and countertops — which come in contact with food, and refrigerator door handles, which come in contact with skin. Let’s take a few seconds to find out what they (and their family and pets) will be inhaling, and what kind of chemicals will be left behind on surfaces.

There’s not much printed on the label, so I visited the Windex.com website for a closer look, then checked out the ingredients on Wikipedia. Here are some of the ingredients in Crystal Rain Windex, what the maker has to say about them, and what they really are:

  1. The Windex website lists 2-Methoxyethanol (also called Ethylene glycol monomethyl ether) and describes it as “a cleaning agent that removes dirt and soils.” Just what we want, right? 2-Methoxyethanol is toxic to the bone marrow and testicles. Workers exposed to high levels are at risk for granulocytopenia (reduction in certain types of white blood cells), macrocytic anemia (abnormally large red corpuscles usually caused by B-12 deficiency), oligospermia (shortage of sperm), and azoospermia (absence of sperm). Uh-oh. . .
  2. The Windex website lists Ethanolamine, described as “a cleaning agent that removes dirt and soils.” Again, this sounds good. Ethanolamine is a toxic, flammable, corrosive, colorless, viscous liquid with an odor similar to that of ammonia. It is an iritant to the eyes, skin, and respiratory system. Overexposure causes lethargy. What!? . . . No wonder people get tired when they clean all day with Windex. Ouch! And P.U.!
  3. Ethoxylated alcohol, another ingredient, is listed on the Windex website as “a cleaning agent that removes dirt and deposits.” O – o – okaaay. . Ethoxylated alcohol has been controversial because of its widespread use and the toxicity to aquatic life after it’s degradation. (Is this what the maker means by “green???”) By the way, some ethoxylated alcohols are called PEGs, or polyethylene glycols. Ever heard of them? PEGs are a class of useful compounds of molecular weights ranging from 190 to 9000 atomic mass units that vary in texture from viscous liquids to waxy solids. The Merck Index says PEGS can be considered as being of “low toxicity.” (Regarding toxicity, “no” is better than “low” and Thieves Household Cleaner has “no toxicity.”) Anyhow, PEGs are found in all kinds of over-the-counter products from garage floor cleaners, cosmetics, and eye drops, to paints, paper coatings, commercial foods and food products. Wikipedia says “PEGs are nephrotoxic (damaging to the kidneys) if applied to damaged skin. (Is that what they mean by “low toxicity?) Pesonally, I’d rather protect my kidneys than put them at risk for the sake of a shiny countertop.
  4. Now for the mystery ingredient, Polyquart® Ampho 149, also said to be “a cleaning agent that removes dirt and soils.” The name tells you it is a synthetic substance that does not exist in nature with which our bodies were not designed to easily metabolize and eliminate. Polyquart® Ampho 149 is a registered trademark of Cognis GmbH, which is the same as saying, “No way will we tell you what’s in it.” Hmmm. . .I wonder why. . .

No place does it say whether these chemicals in combination might be even more dangerous. The company isn’t required to test them that way, so they don’t — or if they did, they aren’t telling us the outcome. (Call me a worry-wart, but I’m willing to bet mixing them together doesn’t make them any less toxic.)

There are a few other ingredients, including artificial colors. I didn’t check them out because I believe the above would be enough to convince ANYONE to switch to Young Living’s Thieves Household Cleaner. (Oh, and water, which you can get by turning on a faucet.)

But if someone still needs more convincing, consider this: Crystal Rain Windex costs about $3.00 per quart. Thieves Household Cleaner, mixed to “Medium Degreasing” concentration, costs about thirty cents a quart. It comes highly concentrated, so you add your own water.

Thieves cleaner is not only non-toxic, it’s actually good for you

Thieves Household Cleaner is totally non-toxic — so safe that a small child could drink it right out of the bottle and not be harmed. Full-strength, it will clean burned-on gunk off the bottom of an oven. To clean glass, just dilute it further with some white vinegar, which makes it even more of a bargain.

But even if someone doesn’t care about paying ten times more for Windex, why would they pay a company any amount on toxins? How “clean” will their house be, with a film of toxins on every surface?

Thieves Household Cleaner is antiseptic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal (great for destroying mold and mildew in tiled surfaces!) It’s even antiviral. It contains 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils of Clove, Cinnamon, Lemon, Eucalyptus radiata, and Rosemary, but NO harmful chemicals. So besides everything being sanitary AND safe, your house will smell wonderful.

Breathing Thieves cleaner is pleasant and boosts your health. The makers of Windex can’t claim that.I count it an added bonus when, after cleaning all day with Thieves cleaner, my hands feel better than when I started! And, oddly enough, the water I used will be dirty, but the rag or sponge is fairly clean. (Go figure!)

Thieves household cleanerIf you haven’t already, I hope you will “make the switch” to Thieves Household Cleaner. Do it for health’s sake AND for your budget. It comes in a 14.4 ounce size (YL item #3743), but if you want to save even more money, get the two quart size (YL item #4475).

Thank God for PMS!

November 14th, 2011

I just returned from three days of training in Raindrop Technique, a method of applying essential oils using massage techniques. The course also included classes in the healing oils of the bible, using oils to aid emotional release, and the chemistry of essential oils.

God is amazing! I never thought that chemistry classes would increase my faith, but they have. I am in awe of how He fearfully and wonderfully designed us and the entire creation, working together like a divine symphony. One example of what I found fascinating in the chemistry class was referred to as “PMS” (not the kind that some women suffer with)  – known as the “triple whammy of essential oils”.  When you receive essential oils by inhalation, orally or through the skin, it includes three classes of compounds:

  1. P = Phenolics – clean the receptor sites of cells
  2. S = Sesquiterpenes – delete bad information from cellular memory
  3. M= Monoterpenes – restore or awaken the correct information in the cell’s memory (DNA) – the way God designed it to function

Each oil is made up of varying amounts of these compounds. The PMS theory provides practical guidance for mixing and applying oils in a therapeutic way.

When our cells have been restored by clean, well-functioning receptor sites, and garbled or mis-written information information in the DNA has been erased, and when God’s image of perfection that has always been there in the cell from our creation has been revived and restored, then whatever our disease or condition has been, the conditions for its presence exist no more. This process can take time or be instantaneous. The healing can be permanent, because the root condition in the cellular memory has been corrected. Once you are healed by the help of essential oils, you don’t need the oils anymore.

Of course if we continue to engage in the life style, thought patterns, bad habits, toxic environments, or other things that brought that disease or condition upon us in the first place, it could return. That is why it is important to know and to do what the Word of God says. It is within our control to prevent backsliding and prevent a relapse. Repentance (agreeing with God that we’ve been going the wrong way) should be followed with a commitment to a revised life style. Repentance is a part of healing, as mentioned in Mark 6:12-13 and James 5:14-16. (Adapted from The Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple by David Stewart, PhD pp. 291-293.)

So now that I have learned this new information and techniques, I need to practice them. The process to become a Certified Raindrop Practitioner (CRP) involves a lot of practical work and an evaluation. I will also need to become an ordained minister in order to practice Raindrop, which I need in the State of CT to lay hands on people. People who are body work professionals (massage therapists, chiropractors, etc.) can practice Raindrop without being ordained, since they already have extensive training and a license.

I’m looking forward to where the Lord is taking me on this adventure. He never ceases to amaze me!

Essential Oils and Massage for Balance and Harmony

October 11th, 2011

I just got my new Raindrop Technique kit from Young Living and am so excited to learn more about it!

Raindrop Technique combines the art of aromatherapy with the techniques of Vita Flex and massage in the application of essential oils to various areas of the body. Raindrop treatments bring balance and harmony to the body – physically, mentally, and emotionally.

When it comes to treating back pain – as well as knee pain, tight shoulders, and digestive system discomfort – it can be hard to find something that will bring the body’s systems into alignment. Raindrop treatment is one aid to solving these problems and more. The technique involves using nine essential oils that have been clinically tested to have antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties:

  1. Valor – a blend that integrates the body’s energies and can help align the spine and muscles of the back
  2. Oregano – a powerful antimicrobial oil. High in phenolpropanoids, which cleanse cell receptor sites.
  3. Thyme – antiseptic, immune enhancing, supportive of the body’s natural defenses.
  4. Basil – supports the muscular system, relaxes the muscles; mentally invigorating and energizing.
  5. Wintergreen – supports joints and skeletal structure. Stimulates the body’s own production of natural cortisone. Analgesic.
  6. Marjoram – Targets involuntary muscles, soothing to the nerves, antiseptic and antimicrobial.
  7. Cypress – Supports circulatory and lymphatic systems. Stimulates the body’s natural white corpusle production. Assists in restoring proper cellular programming.
  8. Peppermint – Supports digestive, respiratory and nervous systems. Detoxes liver.
  9. Aroma Siez – a blend that helps ease cramping and muscle soreness/pain

The Power of the Oils

The oils used in raindrop flush out toxins and kill dormant viruses and bacteria along the spine, restoring health to the entire system.

Raindrop requires almost no knowledge of, or skill in massage. Most of the efficacy of the technique is due to the oils. In fact, practitioners are discouraged from using other techniques at the same time as raindrop. It is the profound God-given healing properties of the oils (the “blood” of plants) which can bring healing where needed.

Only high quality therapeutic grade essential oils should be used with Raindrop Therapy.

How It’s Done

A person receiving raindrop lays facedown as oils are dropped up their back from a height of 6-12 inches. The oils are gently massaged in with a “feathering” motion. After the essential oils have been applied, a towel soaked in hot water is applied to the back to drive the oils further into the body.

Vitaflex, a foot reflexology technique, is used to apply the same oils to the spine reflexology points at the beginning of the raindrop.

Raindrop Technique Training, Here We Come!

In November, a friend and I will be attending a three-day training class on how to perform the Raindrop Technique. In addition to classes on the technique, we will also be learning about the healing oils of the Bible, the chemistry of essential oils and how to use the oils for emotional release.

Stay tuned for updates!

God’s Breath

September 27th, 2011

A poem by David Stewart, PhD

The fragrances of flowers,
Of fields, and of the trees
Exhaled as God’s own breathing
As wafted on a breeze

Inhaled by us, his children
To mingle with our own
The taking of His likeness
Into our flesh and bone

The healing of the nations
By oils of stems and leaves
Embracing Him in silence
In resonance we breathe

Vibrations of the Master
God’s molecules of love
The essence of creation
Distilled from heav’n above

Essential oils of living
God’s nature to imbue
With joy and peace and courage
Uplifting me and you.

As God breathed life to Adam
God’s oils bring life to heal
In sweet aromas fragrant
His presence we do feel

How would you like to receive a fresh anointing?

May 28th, 2011

How would you like to receive a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit on your life today? If your answer is yes, why don’t you go before the Great Anointer and allow Him to give you that fresh anointing? This is precisely what David was referring to when he said, “I shall be anointed with fresh oil” (Psalm 92:10).

The word “anoint” that is used primarily in the Old Testament Septuagint and the Greek New Testament comes from the Greek word chrio. This word originally denoted the smearing or rubbing of oil or perfume upon an individual. For example, if a patient came to see his physician because he had sore muscles, the physician would pour oil upon his own hands; then he would begin to deeply rub that oil into the sore muscles of his patient. That penetrating application of oil would be denoted by the Greek word chrio. So technically speaking, the word “anoint” has to do with the rubbing or smearing of oil upon someone else.

Relieve allergies without drugs

May 13th, 2011

If you are among the 60+ million Americans who suffer with allergies or sensitivities to food and environmental factors, read on. You’ll find practical ideas for symptom relief plus encouragement to hope for a permanent solution. First, let’s start with a common understanding of allergies.

What is an allergy?

An allergy is an over-reaction of the immune system to a normally harmless substance, such as dust, pollen, animal hair. In essence, our bodies respond as if attacked by the invading allergens. In defense, our bodies fight off the allergens with a barrage of antibodies, which then trigger inflammation. According to Marcelle Pick, OB/GYN, NP, “The allergic response is closely related to the inflammatory cascade, and that’s one reason it has such serious health effects. Allergic reactions are recognized as one of the most important causes of illness and disease in America.” “Progressive doctors will now discuss inflammation as a root cause when you present with diseases like asthma, allergies, irritable bowel syndrome or rheumatoid arthritis. However, the conventional approach is still to prescribe drugs at the first sign of an allergy, rarely mentioning that there are natural alternatives.”

Lifestyle changes can provided significant relief for allergies While allergic reactions are a complex medical problem, just a few simple lifestyle changes can make an enormous difference for you, as it has for many others. Let’s start with the top two:

  1. Avoid the allergic substances.
  2. Reduce your toxic overload.

Banish allergens from your home and office environments

While it seems too simple, frequent, very thorough vacuuming of your home, carpets and mattresses will remove a major contributor to your allergies. But plan to spend more time at this task: Allergy magazine recommends 3+ minutes of vacuuming per square yard! Double the effectiveness of your vacuuming by adding several drops of Lavender, Lemon or Purification essential oils to the vacuum’s filter (works for paper and water filters). Next, destroy the dust mites in your bedroom with essential oils. When changing linens, vacuum your mattress, then wipe it down with a few drops of essential oil on a tissue (or use Thieves spray). Then wash your sheets with liquid laundry detergent to which you’ve added 25 drops of Eucalyptus essential oil (or 1/2 oz. per bottle of detergent). Hypoallergenic mattress and pillow covers will also help, as will keeping pets out of your bedroom and using HEPA air filters.

Purify your inside air daily with an essential oil diffuser

This is one lifestyle change that is effortless – and will significantly improve your indoor air quality. Just place 15-20 drops of Purification essential oil blend in a diffuser, plug it in for 30 minutes once or twice a day. Because Purification literally destroys odor-causing molecules, your indoor air is truly sparkling clean.

How to use Young Living essential oils to relieve allergies

Raven & R.C. essential oil blends were especially formulated to fight respiratory conditions, relieve colds, sinusitis and congestion. Diffuse, inhale deeply and apply topically on throat and lung areas (dilute first). Many people alternate between Raven and R.C. for maximum relief. Especially effective single oils are Eucalyptus globulus, Lavender and Roman Chamomile.

  1. Rhinitis (runny nose) – Inhale Eucalyptus, R.C. or Raven.
  2. Sinusitis – Inhale R.C. or Roman Chamomile. Also dilute with pure vegetable oil (50%) and swab nostrils.
  3. Sinus and nasal congestion – Add 10 drops R.C. to a basin of steaming water, cover head and bowl with towel to keep steam in and inhale deeply. Apply topically to sinus points to relieve pressure. This works!

Reduce your toxic overload

Now that you’ve removed a substantial number of allergens from your home and office, consider the effect of your “inner environment” on your allergies. According to Marcelle Pick, NP, “How allergic you are at any one time relates to how well you process your body burden.” ‘Body burden’ is the residue that remains in the body after exposure to thousands of chemicals in the air, water and food supply. When the amount of residue is more than we can detoxify and process daily, we should consider internal cleansing – even if we don’t have allergies. Dr. Gary Young’s position on cleansing is clear: “Because we live a polluted world, we must cleanse continuously to stay healthy.” Young Living’s Five Day Nutritional Cleanse and Re-JUVA-nate Kit were formulated to cleanse with good-tasting and easy-to-use programs.

Why use therapeutic-grade essential oils? They are higher quality and produce much better results. Read more about the grades of essential oils. Young Living is one of only a handful of producers of therapeutic-grade E.O.’s. Learn more about their “seed to seal” method of production.

Remedy for Sciatica

April 28th, 2011

Yesterday morning I woke up with sciatica pain that seemed to come out of nowhere. Pain shot down my left leg with every step. During the day, I applied Panaway essential oil blend and also Peppermint. They both helped and made walking bearable, but the discomfort didn’t completely disappear. I took a look at a booklet I have, titled “110 Uses for Everyday Oils“. Sciatica was listed in the index, and I found that it recommended applying Valor to a certain point on the feet before bed. I have also read that Valor is referred to as the “chiropractor in a bottle”, so I thought I would give it a try.

Here is the chart that shows the point for Sciatica:

I put one drop off Valor on each heal and then went to sleep. When I woke up this morning, I was pain-free!
